22 Februari 2015 | Spanje, Bermeo

At 10 o"clock we all woke up at Naroa"s house and we went downstairs for breakfast. Since the girls forgot to go to the supermarket to buy breakfast we had to eat cookies, chocolate and two cakes that Uxue baked the day before. This breakfast might have not been the healthiest one I ever had, but it was very delicious. After we had breakfast Maitane called her mother to say that she could pick us up and after we packed our stuff she was already there. Before we would go out to visit some beaches, we first went home to change and take a shower because our hair smelled horrible because of the carnivals.

At half past 11 we left the house to go and visit Bermeo. Bereo is an older city which used to have a big mountain where the fishermen could look over the sea and see if there were any whales that they wanted to catch. We walked around for a little while and went to the small port that belongs to the city which is very different compared to the ports we have in the Netherlands. It were mainly small fishing boats instead of the boats that we have in the Dutch ports which are mainly used to relax and just fern around for a little while.

We also visited Mundaka beach which is located near to Bermeo. This is a beach is one of the most important beaches for surfers, since the waves that occur here are one of the best of Europe. Surfers will be here all year long, so even today there were some even though I was already freezing by just walking along the beach so I could not imagine actually being in the water.

After that we decided to go to Gernika to have lunch, which was a bit different from the restaurants that we have in the Netherlands since there were not any waiters so you had go up there yourself to order what you wanted. Something remarkable about the lunch here is that they do not eat a simple sandwich, but a complete meal. Also is the lunch at 3 o"clock in the afternoon instead of 12 o"clock in the Netherlands. Together with Maitane, and her parents we ordered several dishes so we could share them. We had french fries, chicken, salade, paella, sausages, bread and chorizo. After that we also had a small desert which was cheese with fruit and a piece of cake. I really enjoyed the meal :).

After that we visited one more beach which had a very big cliff which was wonderful to see. Just like at Mundaka beach, the waves were very heavy. Since it looked so beautiful we stayed there for like 20 minutes and we took loads of pictures.

After that we went home and I met Maitane"s litte cousin who is 9 years old. She also goes to Lauro, but sadly enough at the building that I never go to since Scott does not have any classes there. She was very excited and enthousiastic and she kept dancing around which was very cute.

Tonight we will probably have dinner a bit earlier than normal so we can go to bed a bit earlier since Maitane and I are both very tired because of the lack of sleep we had last night. We also need to take some rest since tomorrow will be the start of a new school week and the last week in Spain for me!!
